Spring 2011 Redesign

I did some Search Engine Optimisation analysis on my own site today and, as a result, decided to do a bit of a re-design of the site in order to target certain search traffic. The result is not entirely different from the previous design, but I decided to go for something simpler visually too.

I'm a big fan of simple design with websites. If a customer arrives on a home page and doesn't know exactly what the site is designed to sell, say or do immediately - then something is very wrong. Beautiful design is a lovely thing - but there is nothing commercially or strategically desirable about confusing the website visitor!

Redesign

I have a theory that interior designers are so busy decorating other people's houses and that mechanics are so busy fixing other people's cars, that neither have time to work on their own house and car. I confess to have been a bit of a victim of that in the last year or so.

The previous design of New Forest Web was nice, but I have been feeling the need for a new and more current design. So this week I completely changed the look of the site and last night I redesigned the logo and site background. This was partly inspired by a decision to take out advertising space on the new Brand New Forest website.
